Do I need to deal with New Zealand Customs?
For any parcel heading outside of the EU, you’ll need to fill out a customs form. This tells the receiving country’s Customs Agents about the contents of your package so they can process it properly.
When completing your parcel delivery booking form, it’s very important to ensure you follow these customs rules for New Zealand:
-
Enter the full name and address of your recipient
-
Include a local phone number with area code for your recipient
Not adhering to these customs rules will cause your parcel to be delayed, returned back to you or worse still, disposed of.
Important: You may be thinking about sending a friend or loved one some of their things from the UK to make them feel more at home. Should you wish to send Personal Effects to New Zealand, you must take special care in declaring the contents accurately and fully. Personal effects shipments require an Unaccompanied Baggage Declaration and copy of the owner’s passport. If someone else is taking delivery of the parcel on behalf of the owner, a letter of authorisation from the owner is required and photo ID of the non-owner will need to be produced. Additional admin fees will apply in the region of $250NZ and you can expect a few days of clearance delays.
Our aim is to help you get your parcels successfully delivered to their destination quickly and easily; so all the forms you’ll need for posting to NZ will be automatically generated from the information you provide on the booking form. You’ll need to print and sign these documents, put them in an envelope, clearly mark them ‘customs documents’ and secure them to the outside of the package.

What items can’t I send to New Zealand?
When sending parcels to New Zealand, you need to be aware of, understand and comply with their comprehensive list of prohibited and restricted items.New Zealand is an island and as such has a distinctive biodiversity of animal, fungal and plant life, which is why there are very strict rules on what comes in and out of the country. Not only is the bio security of the nation of critical importance, there is a very hard line approach to controlling weaponry, indecent material and drug importation, so NZ Customs Officers are diligent in their rules and regulations.
It is down to you, as the sender, to ensure that you are not sending a prohibited or restricted item into the country. Note that prohibitions and restrictions vary from country to country, and can sometimes apply to items which you may think are ordinary, so it is vital to check your parcel contents will be allowed into New Zealand specifically.
Failure to do so may see additional charges or possibly the destruction of your parcel.
Remember also that items mailed into New Zealand may be subject to import duty, calculated on the Customs value of the goods in New Zealand dollars. The goods may also be subject to Goods and Services Tax (GST) currently at 15%, based on the Customs value of the goods, including the duty (if any) and postal/courier charges. These charges will be applied to the recipient of the parcel, and as they are applied at point of entry to NZ, we cannot include these charges in our prices.

Did you know?
We all know NZ is famous for its wool; amazingly, there are nine sheep for every person in the country. In fact, only 5% of the living population is human, the rest are animals. Absolutely no snakes though, which is very good news for ophidiophobes.
