Do I need to deal with Italian customs?
Items posted from the UK to Italy do not require any customs documentation. The exceptions to this are the following destinations:
-
San Marino
-
Vatican City State
It’s worth noting that depending on the items sent, import charges may be payable by the recipient – visit the Italian Post website for more information.
Sending personal effects to Italy? An invoice clearly stating “Used Personal Effects” and a copy of passport is required to be exempt from duties. The sender’s details must also be stated and Customs will require a personal effects declaration for unaccompanied luggage into Italy.
Don’t worry if any of this seems confusing; when you book your parcel with us and state the destination, we’ll tell you what documents need to be sent with your package.
HM Revenue & Customs has more information on tax and customs considerations for Italy.

Did you know?
Italy has more volcanoes than anywhere else in Europe? Vesuvius, Etna and Stromboli are still active. Of course we can’t not mention pasta when talking about Italy… with Italians eating an average of 25kg of pasta each year – molto bene!
