Kenya, with its warm and humid tropical climate has been home to humans since the Lower Palaeolithic period, otherwise known as the Old Stone Age.

Given its rich history and its geographical positon on the Equator, there is plenty to enthral and excite about Kenya.

Home to the largest tropical fresh-water lake in the world in Lake Victoria (although it is shared with neighbouring Uganda and Tanzania) and Africa’s two highest peaks – Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya – the country overlies the East African Rift, creating a highly diverse environment that is packed full of different plants and wildlife.

Expansive wildlife reserves and national parks are home to the majority of these creatures while Lamu is officially recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Tourism, and especially safaris, are also particularly prevalent. This is hardly surprising since it’s possible to see zebras, lions, cheetahs, hippos, elephants, and many other animals in their natural habitats.

The port of Mombasa is also a popular centre for cultural tourism, although the city itself is not the main attraction.

The Old Town and Fort Jesus are popular but it is the beaches of Nyali, Bamburi and Shanzu to the north, as well as the Shelly, Tiwi and Diani beaches in the south that attract visitors from all over the globe.
