If you’re jetting off overseas this summer or even visiting part of Britain’s fantastic coastline, then the chances are that you might end up on a glorious beach somewhere.

Forecasts suggest a warm August too, providing the perfect opportunity for a day by at the seaside!
But before you tread on any golden sands, be sure you’ve got the essentials to really enjoy your trip – from beach towels to your bucket and spade!

Beach towels

Homelogy

There are two things that top the list of essentials for a trip to the beach and the first is a towel. It’s great to lay on when soaking up some rays and just as important when looking to dry off after a swim in the sea!

Beach wear

The other essential is to have the right beach wear – be it a bikini, speedos or board shorts, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve clothing that’s right for the occasion! Then you’re free to paddle, swim or even surf to your heart’s content.

Flip flops

Sand can get very hot when it’s had the sun beating down on it all day, so to avoid any embarrassing dances across the beach, flip flops are needed. Comfortable and convenient, flip flops can be easily washed while some are even stylish – meeting the needs of the fashion conscious around us!

Sun screen

Unless you want to burn and end up leaving the beach looking like a tomato, then sun screen is a must! Stocking up before a trip to the seaside should help you stay protected, while it can pay to be protected even when it’s slightly cooler – sunburn isn’t pleasant after all!

Blanket

If you’d like to keep your towel relatively sand free, then a blanket provides a great alternative to lay on. What’s more, you could even huddle underneath it if the temperatures drop or if you fancy watching the sun set.

Baby Powder

Blogspot

Not the most obvious thing to take to the beach, but baby powder is fantastic for getting rid of sand on your feet at the end of the day! Brilliant if you don’t fancy that feeling of having grit in your shoes on the drive home!

Bucket and spade

As those with young children will know, any trip to the beach is not complete without a bucket and spade! How else are the kids meant to create huge sand forts and bury dad’s feet as he snoozes?

Beach ball

While some go to the beach to relax, others like to use it as an opportunity to be active. A beach ball is a fantastic way to have fun, either on the sand or in the water.

Book

Alternatively you may wish to sit back and relax, while letting your mind wander. So what better way than to immerse yourself in a good book while lapping up some rays?

A raincoat

As much as it pains is to add this in, the chances are – for those visiting the British seaside anyway – that it might rain so it helps to be prepared! Hopefully it won’t be required, but at least if the heavens do open you won’t be left to get soaking wet as you run to the car!
