Fuel for Thought

April 12, 2012 04:17 by Fahmeda A - Parcel Pete's Helper

With the recent fuel crisis putting the UK in a bit of a panic it is important now more than ever to look at ways of reducing your fuel spend. Here at ipostparcels.com we’ve been looking at ways to cut fuel costs and wanted to share a few tips with you all:

Keep your tyres inflated:
Lower tyre pressure increases the drag on a car, meaning you need more fuel, so regularly check the pressures are correct and your car needs less oomph to keep it moving.

De-clutter your car:
The lighter your car is, the less effort it needs to accelerate. By de-cluttering, clearing out junk from the boot, and not carrying unnecessary weight, you can make extra savings.

Drive in the correct gear:
Maintain a steady speed using the highest gear possible without labouring your engine.

Keep your cool:
Air con loves to drink your fuel, try not to use it as much. it's more efficient to drive with the windows down and the air con off at lower speeds, but at higher speeds it's better to use the air con and keep windows up due to the extra drag caused by having windows down.

Avoid short journeys:
Car engines use more fuel when cold and catalytic converters take around six miles before they become effective. So say goodbye to those short unnecessary drives to the Post Office. Parcel Pete can save you some fuel by coming to you to collect your parcel.

Just by following these few simple steps you’ll be saving that bit extra when it comes to fuel. Parcel Pete plans his journeys so it’s easy for him to collect and deliver your parcel and every little really does help in this economy.

Next day delivery can be a selling point

April 10, 2012 12:24 by Parcel Pete

If your business is to succeed, it is vital that you achieve a sufficient level of sales. However, drumming up enough custom is no easy feat at present. After all, there may well be stiff competition in your particular field, making it hard to attract the attention of consumers. Also, the difficult economic conditions affecting the UK and many other countries are making trading conditions even tougher.

With this in mind, it is vital that you pull out all the stops to generate interest among your target audience. If you sell goods online, one issue you might want to focus on is express parcel delivery. After all, if people have to wait too long before they receive the items they buy over the internet, they can quickly become frustrated. Indeed, many individuals specifically seek out providers that pledge to get their goods to them within a very short period of time.

Here at ipostparcels.com we specialise in parcel collection and delivery services and can offer you a next day parcel delivery option. This means that your customers could receive the products they purchase with virtually no delay.

Of course, in order to raise interest among potential customers, it is necessary to advertise this efficient delivery offering. For example, you might want to highlight the issue on your website. Some retailers also take the route of offering next day parcel delivery as a delivery upgrade in their checkout; this is particularly useful for those customers who are willing to upgrade in order to get their items next day.

Meanwhile, to find out more about our guaranteed next day delivery provisions, simply take a look around the rest of our parcel delivery site.

Chocoholics Rejoice!

April 5, 2012 12:19 by Fahmeda A - Parcel Pete's Helper

With the Easter weekend just around the corner chocolate lovers all over will be delighted to know that chocolate isn’t actually that bad for you!

New research shows that regularly consuming as little as a square of chocolate a day helps to reduce your blood pressure and thus your chance of succumbing to cardiovascular disease (CVD), which is Britain’s biggest killer.

It turns out that chocolate, especially dark chocolate is actually good for your skin. The type of antioxidants called flavonoids found in dark chocolate offer some protection from UV damage from the sun. And no, that does not mean you can skip the sunscreen! Also, that boost of blood flow to the brain created by cocoa's flavanols seems to make people feel more awake and alert, and, in a small British study, perform better on counting tasks.

This is a dream come true for chocolate lovers and just in time for Easter too but of course these findings should not lead to chocolate gluttony. Don’t forget chocolate does contain a few calories and a half! However a small intake of chocolate and a healthy balanced diet will do us all a bit of good. So this Easter, why not treat yourself to an Easter egg or two, I know Parcel Pete will be on his parcel delivery routes.

What’s so new about the new iPad?

March 29, 2012 12:15 by Parcel Pete

The highly anticipated iPad 3 (officially known as ‘The New iPad’) has finally arrived. With the rumour mill boiling over and eager fans chewing down their nails in expectancy, Apple finally laid to rest all the gossips and put us out of our misery on March 7th 2012. The device was launched in the first week of March and was shipped across the world the very next week, including deliveries made here in the UK by our very own UK Mail. However, was it worth the wait? Has it lived up to our expectations?  Maybe not so…

Apple, known for its technical excellence and innovation have released what they believe is ‘resolutionary’. Don’t get me wrong the screen resolution is immense the 2048 x 1536 pixel Retina Display is bursting with colour, saturation and sharpness but is it an upgrade you can live without? I think so.  It’s not as if the iPad 2 had a bad display, not by any stretch. Most of the time you’re not close enough to your tablet's screen to pick up the pixels anyway.

The 5 megapixel iSight camera means you have a capable digital camera… the size of a magazine! Apple is pitching the new iPad as a photographer’s companion but that is unlikely to be true.  Whilst they’ve improved the lens of the iSight the front facing camera remains the same as the iPad 2.

Due to the bigger battery the new iPad is slightly thicker; this is probably the only difference in design compared to the iPad 2. Some have argued Apple is losing its innovation credibility; the opportunity for a competitor to crash the Apple party is now. And believe you and me, Android devices are fast becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Going back to my first question, what’s new about the new iPad? Well not much really. However it is the best on the market and remains at the top of the hill. If you don’t have an iPad, then get this one, if you do have an iPad 2 then stick to it and wait for number 4! Alternatively you could always sell it on eBay and go for the iPad 3.
