Preparing for Christmas

View our Christmas Delivery Schedule

Christmas is a great time of the year; woolly jumpers, mistletoe and mulled wine along with some festive cheer to help make it a merry time for all. However it can also be the busiest time of the year, here at ipostparcels.com we’ve put together some simple tips to help you get through the Christmas rush.

Christmas Shopping:

It’s always best to get it done early but that’s never usually the case! To help make that last minute Christmas shopping that little less stressful we suggest you put a list together of all the people you’re buying for along with possible gift ideas and sit back from the comfort of your sofa and do a bit of online shopping. If you’re adamant to go into the shops then leave the car at home and take public transport, the hassle of finding a parking space will stress you out before you even get into the shops.

Travel:

Try and book train tickets in advance for the best price. If you’re driving far, check your route before you set off to avoid any road works and delays. AA route planner is a good for identifying the quickest route to your destination.

Christmas Delivery:

Always check the delivery schedule for websites you purchase from.  If you’re sending a parcel then and want to be sure on delivery then check out our Christmas Delivery Schedule.

Stock up:

As well making sure you have your main Christmas food bits and pieces don’t forget to stock up on the essentials such as bread, milk and sugar. Another good tip is to freeze separate portions of food, such as fried garlic, onion, bacon or pancetta to be added at the last minute to gravies and vegetables.

Other than that, make sure you all have a very merry Christmas! Remember to check out our Christmas Delivery schedule before you book your parcel delivery.

Children in Need

November 15, 2012 11:01 by Fahmeda A - Parcel Pete's Helper

BBC Children in Need appeal takes place every year in November and this year it’s taking place on Friday 16th November. Parcel Pete has travelled up to our Newcastle depot to take part in some charity fundraising. Keep a close eye on the ipostparcels.com Facebook page for the pictures, coming soon!

History of Children in Need:

Since 1980the charity has raised over £600 million to change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

Pudsey Bear made his television debut in 1985 when Terry Wogan introduced the new, brown cuddly mascot to the audience designed by a BBC graphic designer who named him after the village she was born in.

Pudsey proved very popular and returned as BBC Children in Need's official logo with his design amended to that of a yellow bear with a red spotted bandage.

Appeal Night:

Every year the BBC host a fun filled appeal night with celebrities and local communities all taking part in various activities for the worthy cause.  This year Parcel Pete decided to stop off at Newcastle to help with a spot of fundraising whilst on his parcel delivery route.  The ipostparcels.com team can’t wait to see what he got up to and will be uploading some pictures very soon!

How To Select Your Courier

November 12, 2012 07:12 by Parcel Pete

When a person requires the services of a courier company it can be difficult to decide on which ones are worth the cost. Whether you're looking for an eBay courier or a someone to fulfil your business needs, there are so many numerous companies, selecting one that you can rely on can be overwhelming. However, there are many different things to look for that will help you choose the perfect service for your needs.

What to look for in a courier company

One of the most important factors to consider when looking through courier companies is a delivery service that guarantees to deliver your parcels at their destination at the allocated time. The items also should be secure in their original condition; they should not be mishandled or damaged when they reach the recipient. Look into the history of the company and whether their existing customers have been satisfied with the service they have received. The type of service you require will also affect which service you chose. For instance, if you need next day delivery you need to opt for a company, such as ipostparcels.com, that is widespread enough to deliver your package in this time. A cheap courier service does not always mean they are the best or worst service.

Cheap courier services

The price does not typically reflect the quality; it is better to look at reliability. Courier tracking is always a good idea so check whether a company provides this service. Knowing your parcel has been collected and delivered successfully gives peace of mind and avoids any failure to deliver.

British Ski & Board Show

November 8, 2012 10:20 by Parcel Pete

Hi Everyone,

Its Parcel Pete here just thought I’d give you a quick update on what I’ve been up to recently. Amongst collecting parcels and delivering them I also like to get out and about and spread the ipostparcels.com word. Have a read below to see where I was recently.

Showtime

Two weeks ago I set up stand at The British Ski and Board Show held at the NEC in Birmingham. I had all my different sized parcels out and banners up giving the attendees and exhibitors more information on our next day delivery service.  It was a great few days and I met some fantastic people as well watching the teams perform some amazing tricks and jumps.

Check out the pictures from the exhibition on our Facebook page:

Remember Remember the 5th of November

November 1, 2012 11:13 by Fahmeda A - Parcel Pete's Helper

It’s that time of year again where we all huddle around the fire and get the sparklers out. Bonfire Night, also known as Firework Night or Guy Fawkes Night is traditionally celebrated on the 5th November across the UK. Here at ipostparcels.com we thought what better time to look back at the history of the night and also give you a few tips on staying safe.

Guy Fawkes

Bonfire Night’s history begins with the events of 5 November 1605, long before next day parcel delivery, when Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was arrested while guarding explosives the plotters had placed beneath the House of Lords. Celebrating the fact that King James I had survived the attempt on his life, people lit bonfires around London and since then the 5th November has prompted celebrations of the plots failure.

Staying Safe around Fire

Bonfires and firework displays are a lot of fun but can also be dangerous. Here’s the ipostparcels.com teams safety guide:

- Always stand well back from the fire
- Never use paraffin or petrol on a bonfire
- Keep pets indoors and close the curtains
- Wear gloves when handling sparklers
- Hold sparklers at arm’s length and place in a bucket of water once out
- Don't put fireworks in your pockets and never throw them

So, once you’ve had your parcel collected or delivered why not get yourself down to a fireworks display or have your own in the garden, but make sure you stay safe. You can be sure Parcel Pete will be ensuring all safety measures are in place for our celebrations!

A Convenient Parcel Delivery Service

October 29, 2012 10:50 by Parcel Pete

Sending parcels to customers or returning unwanted items which you have bought online can be somewhat inconvenient these days. Indeed, we all live increasingly busy lives and finding the time to go and queue up at the Post Office is not always possible in today’s fast-moving world.

Thankfully, we here at ipostparcels can make the process of sending a parcel or returning unwanted goods a far more simple and stress-free experience.

Parcel delivery at its best

Our whole remit is to provide a more convenient and user-friendly means for you to organise your next day deliveries and collections. In fact, all you need to do to take advantage of our services is log onto our website; name your parcel collection address (i.e. home, office, work, neighbour’s house etc); book a time slot that suits you best, and then we will come and pick up your parcel for next day delivery. This means that you do not have to hang around all day or trek to your local post office. Or, if you prefer, you can always make use of our network of 5 depots placed around the UK for a drop off or pick up service, as this can save you even more money on your delivery charges.

Our innovative parcel delivery service really can pay dividends as it ensures you can take care of all your parcel delivery needs without having to experience any of the inconvenience that so often goes with it.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

October 5, 2012 06:39 by Parcel Pete

Hi Everyone,

As you all know I love collecting and delivering your parcels for next day delivery but I also love to do my bit for charity as well. On the 28th September I took part in the world biggest coffee morning to help raise some much needed funds for Macmillian Cancer Support.

I had a great day, I went to visit our depots in Slough and Leeds to help support the event and eat some delicious cakes.  All in all we managed to raise from both sites a fantastic £300 and our parent company UK Mail has kindly matched our final figures totalling it up to a very impressive £600!

We had some delicious homemade cakes on sale and it was great to see all the team get into the spirit of things. Macmillan Cancer Support is a great charity helping to support those affected by cancer, making sure no one has to go through it alone and it was great to be a part of the biggest coffee morning event.

Take a look at some of the pictures on our facebook page:

Now after all that cake I’m back on the road collecting parcels!
